Summary |
This history of the City of Gaithersburg was prepared as part of its centennail celebration of the granting of its Charter of April 5, 1878 by the General Assembly of Maryland. Ten chapters, each written by different authors, describe the development from different perspectives, such as the railroad and its connection to the City, agriculture, schools, landmarks, etc. Elected Officials from 1878-1978 are listed as are the appointed City Managers from 1963-1978. A three-page list of acknowledgements follows as does an index. An unusual element in this book is "Genealogies" gathered by Janet Thompson Manuel. Some of the families included are the Gaither, Amiss, Beckwith, Briggs and Ward. |
