MERGED - DELETE Clapperton Tennis Memorabilia This is a framed version of a Proclamation issued by the Washington Grove Town Council declaring " . . . that the public tennis courts of Washington Grove be dedicated henceforth as 'Clapperton Courts.' " It bears the original signature of Mayor Philip K. Edwards and was signed on September 12, 1976. The entire proclamation, on ivory colored paper, is hand printed in black ink, has a black line four-sided border, and a line drawing of a two-wheeled tennis court liner. The frame is bronze painted wood. A wire hanger is in the back ready for hanging the proclamation. It was delivered to Town Hall November 5, 2015 by Ann Briggs who reported that Joseph Stoltz, friend and attorney for Richmond Clapperton, was donating it to the Town Archives. |
