Description |
This artifact was transerred to the Maryland State Archives Special Collections, by Maria Day, Director, on March 13, 2019. This artifact is a stiff paper egg carton. It was found in the collapsible box made by the Day Collapsible Box Co. of Washington Grove, Maryland. Research done on the collapsible box (OA.0001) traces the possible date for this egg carton to 1914-1920. The egg carton is 7" wide by 5 1/2 " deep by 2 1/2" high. Inside is a paper separator allowing for a dozen of eggs. On the cover is printed: ONE DOZEN SELECTED EGGS with a sketch of four chickens and one rooster in a barnyard setting. Two decorative X's frame the picture. On the front and back sides is printed ONE DOZEN SELECTED EGGS. |
